I was born at Waipiro Bay. My father was a shepherd and my mother was a sheep station cook.
My education began with correspondence school because we were too far away from the nearest school. Did finally go to school when I was about 10. High schooling was at the Manutahi Maori District High School in Ruatoria. Left High School at the end of 1957 and went to work in Wellington in 1958 at the Government Actuary’s Office.
In 1959 Billy Graham held crusades in NZ and I was converted at the one in Wellington. About a year later I felt the call to full time ministry so began a degree at Victoria University in Wellington. I then went on to Knox Theological Hall in Dunedin.
Rachelle & I were married in November 1966 and I graduated from Knox the end of the following year.
I went as associate minister to St Andrews Hastings. From there I went to Hokitika, Darfield and Balclutha. While we were in Balclutha Rachelle was ordained and shared the ministry with me at St Andrews.
In 2003 I retired from Parish Ministry and we returned to Christchurch where Rachelle became minister of St Luke’s Halswell until she retired in 2008. We have continued to minister where needed in various parishes and also with the Healing Ministry with the Order of St Luke.
We have 4 sons, 8 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. And now live at Summerset, Wigram. Hobbies: Reading, Collecting NZ Stamps, Tapestry, Walking.
